Jaap van Lagen continues with top team in Porsche Supercup
Ede/Sattel (CH), April 2, 2020 – At a time when most motorsport news is also related to corona, Jaap van Lagen provides a welcome exception. The experienced driver from Ede has been recruited by the Swiss racing team Fach Auto Tech to race in the Porsche Supercup. “It feels great to be back at the old nest. With Alex I celebrated my greatest success in the Porsche Supercup.”
Jaap van Lagen is referring to the boys' book from 2015. He was put on the starting list by team boss Alex Fach at the very end as a guest driver for the Supercup race in Monaco. Jack came, saw and conquered. In qualifying, the veteran took pole position and from that first place on the grid, Jaap took the lead in cold blood. After 16 laps he passed under the checkered flag as the winner.
“Winning in Monaco. I still get goosebumps when I think about it. Everything was right that weekend. And that doesn't happen very often in motorsport. I flew over the track. To enjoy." Now Jaap van Lagen and Alex Fach are reunited. For the second time, because the Edenaar also raced for the Swiss success team in 2018.
Absolutely top team
“Fach Auto Tech is definitely a top team. Still. The last three years they have finished as vice champions. In 2018 I was also on stage with them twice," says Jaap van Lagen. He gets two Australian teammates. Joey Mawson, who made his rookie debut last year, and Jordan Love, the reigning champion of the Australian Carrera Cup who is making his debut in the Porsche cups' champions league.
“I think we have a very strong team and we can show great things.” It is still uncertain when Jaap and his teammates can hit the circuits with the 485 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. “The Porsche Supercup is part of the Formula 1 format, so all races have been suspended. Actually, we had already completed training days in Barcelona and Zandvoort.”
Staying healthy is much more important
Especially the race during the Grand Prix of Zandvoort, Jaap had circled red in his agenda. “My roots are at Zandvoort, I learned everything on that job. I was really looking forward to racing there in front of packed stands. It's a shame it's all been postponed for the time being. By the way, the only right choice, because staying healthy is much more important than racing.”

Jaap van Lagen is supported by a large number of local companies: Vink Kunststoffen, Polskamp meat industry, Oranjedak, Joalpe.eu, Wedeflex, Stroomberg meat, Energy Bullets, Febo, Meijer tiles, Zantingh, UrbanInterest, Gustav Amsterdam, Ciass Ede bv, RaceArt .
